Loss Of Appetite
Harvey has not been able to have a respectable meal for the last 3 months. He appears to have lost his appetite even though we try every day to encourage him to join in and eat around the table each morning, afternoon and evening meal.
Harvey's daily nutrition is provided by two components: Liquigen and Monogen, followed by a spoonful of Poly-Joule sprinkled on the small handful of cornflakes he attempts to eat. This is all drip fed through gastro nasal tube and a pump runnig all night while Harvey is asleep
He once used to eat 3 weetbixes in the morning. He now bearly eats a third. Inthe evening, he has about two mouthfulls of the main meal and stores the remaining mouthfuls he reluctanlty accepts, at the top of his mouth. He just does not want to swallow.
Harvey's lack of apetite is all due to his enlarged liver and spleen that is pressing on his tummy, making him feel full all the time. One concern is that he is not using his mouth muscles and will forget how to chew
