The liver also stores nutrients such as certain vitamins, minerals, and iron, and plays a role in synthesizing and managing levels of certain chemicals and proteins in the body, such as cholesterol, hormones, and sugars. It helps the body digest food by producing a substance called bile, which is stored in the gallbladder.
The liver does the most important work in the body. Trifling around with the liver is like messing around with your car engine. The Liver is the ultimate power plant inside you
- The muscles get energy from the liver
- It digests food
- It manufactures vitamins for seeing in the night
- It helps the clotting of blood
- When the red blood cells die it stores them by breaking them into bio-chemicals
- These chemicals are once again used to make red blood cells
- It secreates bile to wash away fat
THE LIVER IS A QUIET ORGAN. IT DOESN’T SHOW OFF. IT HAS MORE COMPLEX ROLES TO PLAY
The Liver acts as a VALVE to the heart. It controls the rushing of excess blood to the heart and thus prevents its swelling.
Whilst we have knowledge of the structure of the liver, there are still many aspects about the various cells of the liver, their role and functions that we do not understand. Until we do, prevention of liver diseases, more effective treatments and cures will still elude us. Basic liver cell research is still urgently needed!
